He has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1985), Master’s degree in Applied Physics from Instituto de Física de São Carlos – Universidade de São Paulo (1988) and PhD in Sciences from Universite Paris XI (Paris-Sud) (1992). He is currently Associate Professor MS-5, Level A3 at the Institute of Physics of São Carlos, University of São Paulo. He has experience in Physics, with emphasis on the Study of the Structure of Crystalline and Amorphous Solids; working mainly on the following topics: Characterization of the local and electronic structure of Ceramic Materials, Vitreous and Nanostructured Oxides, using the following techniques: X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (EXAFS-XANES), X-ray Diffraction, Raman Spectroscopy. He also performs ab-initio calculations for the interpretation of X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy data.
