Edson Roberto Leite is currently a professor at the Department of Chemistry of the Federal University of São Carlos (SP) Scientific Director of LNNano-CNPEM. He graduated in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos. From 1988-1992, he worked at 3M do Brasil, where he dedicated himself to research and development of electronic and telecommunications products. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos in 1993. In January 1994, he joined the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos. From 1998 to 1999, Edson was Visiting Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. His current research interests include synthesis and growth process of inorganic nanoparticles by chemical approaches, electron microscopy material characterization, thermal stability of nanostructured materials and materials for photoelectrochemical devices. He has published over 300 scientific articles and edited three books (related to materials for energy) and co-authored a book (related to the process of nucleation and growth in nanocrystals). Edson has received several awards including Scopus Prize from Elsevier / CAPES (2006) and John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation (2009). In 2012, Edson was appointed member of the World Academy of Ceramics and Member of the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences. In 2014, he was co-chair of the MRS Spring Meeting in San Frascisco, CA. In 2019 he was elected to the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC).
