Post-doctoral Fellowship in Microbiology

Documents submission until June 15th/2022

The Center for the Development of Functional Materials – CDFM, one of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (CEPID) supported by Fapesp, has investigated different types of materials with antimicrobial properties. One of the materials developed, silver tungstate (Ag2WO4), has shown promising biomaterial with antimicrobial properties. Therefore, this project aims to develop titanium and zirconia abutment coatings by the SILAR method (Successive ionic layer adsorption and react) and to investigate the antimicrobial and biocompatibility properties of α-Ag2WO4 irradiated by the electron beam system developed by the Center for the Development of Functional Materials (CDFM/CEPID). Thus, this project directly contributes to the scientific and technological development of new antimicrobial coatings for applications in medical and dental fields.

Candidate requirements:

1) Doctor’s degree in the areas of Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and/or related areas;

2) Experience in microorganism culture (bacteria and fungi), molecular biology techniques (PCR) and general cell biology techniques;

3) Experience in microbiology, cell biology and molecular biology, with emphasis on antimicrobial activity assays, biocompatibility assays and molecular characterization of pathogens;

4) Full dedication to project activities.

Documents needed for application:

Candidates must send, by June 15th/2022, the following documents to Prof. Carlos Eduardo Vergani – posdoc.foar@unesp.br

1) Letter presenting your interest.

2) Short curriculum, presenting academic training, publications and information that prove your scientific experience in the area of the project.

3) Names and emails of two people as a reference in the field of microbiology.

The post-doctoral opportunity is open to Brazilians and foreigners. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral Scholarship from Fapesp (R$ 8,479.20 per month) and a funding equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the scholarship to cover expenses directly related to the research activity.

If the post-doctoral fellow resides outside the city where the research institution is located and needs to move, he may be entitled to an installation allowance. More information about the Fapesp Post-Doctoral Scholarship is available at www.fapesp.br/bolsas/pd.
