CDMF offers post-doctoral fellowship from FAPESP in the area of multifunctional materials with antiviral applications

The Center for the Development of Functional Materials (CDMF) has a post-doctoral position open with a grant from the São Paulo Research Foundation, to conduct the study called “Theoretical study of multifunctional materials with potential antiviral application”.

Candidates, Brazilian or foreigners, must have a PhD in Chemistry and knowledge in the theoretical study of the properties of multifunctional materials. The scholarship lasts for 12 months and the submission of documents for registration must be done by 01/20/2021.

More information is available in the announcement below:

Theoretical study of multifunctional materials with antiviral potential application

The multifunctional materials of nanostructured inorganic oxides based on Ag cations are highly efficient against lethal viruses, microbes/germs and other microorganisms. The need of modern society stimulates the development of new materials with multiple applications and, specifically, with high antiviral activity. For this purpose, a theoretical study of structural, optical, morphological and photocatalytic properties of some inorganic oxides containing silver will be carried out. In addition, the changes in the photocatalytic performance will be analyzed when these materials are irradiated with electron beam or femtosecond laser.

The position for this fellowship requires a PhD in Chemistry with good practical knowledge of the Density Functional Theory (DFT), proven experience in computational simulations with the CRYSTAL program. In addition, must also have knowledge of the VASP software.
