Graduated in Physics (1968), Master in Physics (1970) and PhD in Physics (1976) from the Institute of Physics of the University of S. Paulo. Internships: PhD at the National Research Council of Canada in Ottawa (1970-1973), postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institut fuer Festkoerperforschung (MPI-FKF) in Stuttgart, Germany (1983), and Laboratoire d ‘Ionique et d’ Electrochimie du Solide (LIESG) in Grenoble, France (1990). He was elected in 2014 member of the World Academy of Ceramics in the Science category. In 2018 he received the Global Star Award from the Engineering Division of the American Ceramic Society. He is a volunteer researcher at the Center for Materials Science and Technology (CCTM) of the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN) in S. Paulo and was a Senior Visiting Researcher at the Center for Engineering, Modeling and Applied Social Sciences (CECS) of the Federal University of ABC (UFABC) from 2017 to 2019. It guides undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students and supervises postdoctoral students. Develops research work in electroceramics. Materials – solid ceramic electrolytes, ceramic membranes. Devices – solid oxide fuel cells, temperature and chemical sensors. Techniques – electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, thermal analysis, dilatometry, high-temperature X-ray diffraction, probe scanning microscopy and scanning electron microscopy; Themes – Nanomaterials, high entropy oxides, carbon dioxide sequestration, electrochemical sensors, electric field assisted sintering, flash sintering.
