Organo-functionalized MoS2 as a nanofiller to enhance and control the swelling behavior of polybutadiene rubber nanocomposites
Abstract: The functionalized MoS2 (f-MoS2), synthesized at different temperatures, was incorporated in polybutadiene (PB) rubber as a nanofiller and then vulcanized with sulfur without any further additives. The incorporation of f-MoS2 into PB matrix promotes significant improvements in swelling properties that can be even compared to traditional fluorocarbon (FKM) and nitrile (NBR) rubbers. Moreover, the statistical results showcase that is possible to modulate the swelling behavior of the rubber nanocomposite by varying the amount of PB grafted on f-MoS2.
